EA has confirmed some extra details about Battlefield V, including microtransactions and lootboxes, as well as more information about its reveal trailer.
An EA representative confirmed to IGN following the reveal of Battlefield V that the action seen in the trailer was “all in-engine footage and representative of things you can do in the game.”
EA also confirmed to IGN that the game will not feature lootboxes. and that the items available for purchase in-game are cosmetic only.
“What you can purchase are vanity items directly and through grind and premium currency,” a representative for EA told IGN. “You cannot pay for any advantage or power [in Battlefield V].”
The new entry in the Battlefield series is set in World War 2 and offers a number of new features, including a four-player co-op mode called Combined Arms and a steady stream of new content after launch called The Tides of War.
At the reveal event, it was also revealed that Battlefield V will scrap the premium pass, offering all of its major post-release content for free.
Battlefield V launches on October 19 for PC, PS4 and Xbox One.
