Sega announced that remasters of PlatinumGames’ Bayonetta and Vanquish are coming to PlayStation 4 and Xbox One on February 18, 2020. The games will run in 4K at 60fps on PlayStation 4 Pro and Xbox One X. This announcement confirms a Microsoft store posting from earlier this month that listed Vanquish with a February 2020 release date. Bayonetta was later listed on the Microsoft store as well.
Sega is celebrating ten years of Bayonetta and Vanquish by launching the action titles in a 10th-anniversary bundle, which includes a steelbook featuring art from Bayonetta on the front, and from Vanquish on the back. The physical version costs $39.99.
Digitally, you can still buy the games together for the same price as the physical version, or you can buy them individually for $24.99 each. Exclusive PS4 themes will be available for those who purchase or preorder the game up to two weeks after its launch. Sega revealed that preorders for all versions go live today.
Since its original release, Bayonetta has received a sequel, with another one on the way. Bayonetta 3 was announced two years ago at The Game Awards 2017 as a Nintendo Switch exclusive.
Unlike Bayonetta, Vanquish has not received a sequel, but some of us at IGN think Vanquish deserves one. Vanquish was directed by Shinji Mikami, who is best known for working on the Resident Evil series. In our Vanquish review, we said, “players looking for a highly entertaining shooter should look no further. Vanquish will keep you on the edge of your multi-thruster booster seat.”
