Happy International Women’s Day, everyone! To celebrate, IGN will be taking a look at some of our favorite women in game development while playing the games they’ve worked on. Titles to be featured will include Little Big Planet, Firewatch, Cuphead, Portal, Snipperclips, Halo, and more! Join us live on Thursday March 8 at 1pm PT/4pm ET/9pm UK (March 9 at 8am AET).
In addition to showcasing a plethora of amazing developers, we’ll also be raising money and awareness for some outstanding charities. This year we’ll be supporting Girls who Code and The Malala Fund – two organizations that encourage women to chase their educational goals across the globe. You can read more about each group below:
Girls who Code: https://girlswhocode.com/donate
Girls who Code is an non-profit organization with a single mission: to close the gender gap in technology. They offer learning opportunities for students and alumni to deepen their computer science skills, create clear pathways for Girls Who Code alumni from middle and high school into the computing workforce, and build a supportive sisterhood of peers and role models to help their students and alumni persist and succeed.
The Malala Fund: https://www.malala.org/donate
Founded in 2013, Malala Fund champions every girl’s right to 12 years of free, safe, quality education. The non-profit works in regions where most girls miss out secondary education, with priority countries of Pakistan, Afghanistan, India, Nigeria, and countries housing Syrian Refugees (Jordan, Lebanon and Turkey).
We are happy to be supporting both of these causes with our live-stream this year and hope that you’ll have a chance to join us. You can find the stream on IGN’s home page, YouTube (which will have integrated donations through Super Chat), Twitch, and Facebook.
