Dead Cells Guide: Big List of Upgrades and Weapons

A list of upgrades that the player can either obtain through exploring the game or purchasing from various characters. If you are new to Dead Cells, be sure to check out the Tips and Tricks page as well, or skip to Weapons.

EditGeneral Upgrades

Upgrade Cells Prerequisites Description
Health Flask I 5 None Unlocks a health potion that can be used at any time.
Health Flask II 50 Health Flask I Your health potion can now be used two times per refill. Convenient!
Health Flask III 300 Health Flask II Your health potion can now be used a third time. With greater potions comes greater power and far less responsibility.
Health Flask IV  700 Health Flask III You are now the master of potions, carrying 4 doses of life-giving goodness at a time. Nothing can stop you now!
Gold Reserves I 5 None Preserves up to 3000 gold upon death for you to use on your new run. Very useful for accessing early items in the prison.
Gold Reserves II 35 Gold Reserves I Preserves up to 6000 gold upon death. This will let you access some of the more expensive shop-keeper items in the initial areas, giving you a good head-start!
Gold Reserves III 160 Gold Reserves II More money, less problems.
Gold Reserves IV  ? Gold Reserves III Your wealth is immeasurable!
Random Starter Bow 65 Unlock 2 Items The starter bow that is given to you at the beginning of the game is now randomized. This upgrade gives you an excellent chance of receiving a quality bow at no cost.
Random Starter Shield 65 Unlock 2 Items The starter shield that is given to you at the beginning of the game is now randomized. Every adventurer needs a reliable shield and this upgrade -might- give you just that.
Random Melee Weapon 65 Unlock 12 Items Randomizes the melee weapon you start the game with. Your melee weapon is your bread-and-butter in Dead Cells, so a potential strong melee weapon from the get-go is a fantastic boon.
Restock  300 Unlock 20 items Spend gold to refresh a shop’s inventory.
Hunter’s Grenade  ? Unlock 20 items A grenade that improves your chances of finding blueprints from enemies
Recycling I 25 None Transforms items found on the ground or in treasure chests into gold. Useful when you have a set of equipment you already like and want to gain some value from what you would otherwise leave behind.
Recycling II 120 Recycling I Transforms items found on the ground or in treasure chests into gold (15% of purchase price).

EditTraps

Upgrade Cells Description
Sinew Slicer 0 Fires spinning blades at nearby enemies, inflicting bleeding (10 DPS for 1.5 sec)
Wolf Trap 0 Throws 2 traps that immobilize enemies and increase the damage they take (70 DPS for 6.5 sec)
Double Crossb-o-matic 15 Shoots at 2 nearby enemies at the same time. Each shot inflicts 79 DPS

EditGrenades

Upgrade Cells Description
Infantry Grenade 0 The most basic grenade. Limited use. Its only real purpose is to extend stun duration between your melee attacks.
Ice Grenade 0 This grenade has the incredible effect of freezing a large group of enemies for a long duration, leaving them vulnerable to damage all the while. The only downside is a long cooldown.
