The Dota team has unveiled Dota Plus, a new monthly subscription service described as an “evolution of the Battle Pass.” Rather than offer services dependent on start and end dates, the official Dota 2 blog explains, Dota Plus will continually offer new features and content over time.
Some notable features of Dota 2 plus include Hero Leveling, which will let you rack up XP for each game you play with a hero to unlock hero badges, Reward Shards, and more; Hero-Specific Challenges, which function as challenge-based achievements that earn you XP; the Hero Chat Wheel, which lets you say a number of phrases in allied or all chat and unlock more with hero badges, and more. Weekly rewards, a Plus Assistant that gives you access to data-driven item, hero, and ability suggestions, post-game and real-time analytics, and other perks come packaged in with your monthly subscription.
You can find the full run-down of benefits on the Dota Plus website, where you can also take a look at its pricing options. It’s $3.99 for one month, with a 6% discount for a 6 month sub and a 12% discount for a 12 month sub.
IGN recently visited Valve’s office for its Artifact press event. There, we learned a ton about Artifact and Valve’s game release strategy, including initial details about Artifact and its mechanics, why Valve hasn’t released Half-Life 3, how Valve plans on shipping games again, and more.
