Sony’s E3 2018 press conference kicked off on Monday, June 11 at 6pm PT in Los Angeles with tons of teasers, news, announcements, and trailers for new and returning games. The biggest highlights included a first look at gameplay for The Last of Us 2 and Death Stranding, the official reveal of the Resident Evil 2 remake, new Spider-Man gameplay, and more.

The Last of Us 2 Gets a Gameplay Trailer

The Last of Us 2 got its first gameplay trailer, which started off with a cinematic of Ellie and her love interest Dina.

Our first look at The Last of Us 2 gameplay – which kicked off with a musical performance from Gustavo Santaolalla – confirms Ellie as a playable character.

Death Stranding Gameplay Trailer, New Star Revealed

We got our first look at Death Stranding gameplay in a brand new trailer, which also revealed two new stars, Lea Seydoux and Lindsay Wagner.

The song in the trailer was “Asylums for the Feeling” by Silent Poets. On-screen text throughout the video wrote out the following: “Give me your hand in life. Give me your hand in death. Give me your hand in flesh. Give me your hand in spirit.”

No other details were revealed during the conference, but a blog post from Hideo Kojima on the PlayStation blog sheds some light on what we saw.

Resident Evil 2 Gets Reveal Trailer, Release Date

The Resident Evil 2 remake was officially revealed. It’s headed to PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One on January 25, 2019.

Unlike Resident Evil 7, the Resident Evil 2 remake – officially called Resident Evil 2 – features an over-the-shoulder camera angle, similar to Resident Evil 4.

Ghost of Tsushima Gets a Gameplay Trailer

Ghost of Tsushima got its first gameplay trailer, showing off some old-school samurai action.

The gameplay trailer showed off day nine of a Mongol invasion, introducing its protagonist, a supporting character who may end up being an antagonist, and more.

Spider-Man Shows Off Villains in New Gameplay Trailer

new gameplay trailer for Spider-Man showed off some familiar villains, including Electro, Rhino, Scorpion, and Vulture, as well as Mr. Negative, who has appeared in previous trailers.

The ending of the trailer teased the reveal of a sixth mystery villain.

FromSoftware Reveals New VR Game Déraciné

Dark Souls developer FromSoftware revealed its upcoming VR game Déraciné.

The trailer didn’t reveal much, but Sony did provide a description: “As a spirit summoned by a young girl in a secluded boarding school, the player must prove its existence and build a unique bond with the students through clever interactions. As the mystery of the story unfolds, the spirit must use its ability to manipulate the forces of life and time to change the fate of the pupils.”

Déraciné means “uprooted” or “replaced.”

Nioh 2 Announced

Nioh 2 was announced with a surprise teaser.

No other details were revealed.

Control, New Game From Max Payne Developer, Revealed

Remedy Entertainment’s Codename P7 was revealed as a game called Control.

According to Remedy, Control is a “third-person action-adventure game” set in “a unique and ever-changing world” that combines “Remedy’s trademark gunplay with supernatural abilities.”

Kingdom Hearts 3 Pirates of the Caribbean World Announced

Pirates of the Caribbean World is coming to Kingdom Hearts 3. The trailer featured ship-to-ship combat, which is most likely a world-specific mechanic.

PlayStation 4 Pro Kingdom Hearts 3 Limited Edition was also announced.

Trover Saves the Universe Revealed for PSVR

Rick and Morty co-creator Justin Roiland is working on a new game called Trover Saves the Universe. It’s headed to PS4 and PSVR in 2019.

Trover Saves the Universe appears to be a 3D platformer with Roiland’s distinct brand of humor.

God of War Adding a New Game+ Mode

A New Game+ mode was announced for God of War. According to the PlayStation blog, “In New Game+, you’ll start a new game with many upgrades you had from the completion of your last main quest, such as armors, pommels, talismans, and more… except your strength to open or kick down doors remains the same.”

Black Ops 1 and 2 Maps Coming to Black Ops 3 and Black Ops 4

Old maps from Call of Duty: Black Ops and Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 are getting remastered for Black Ops 4 and Black Ops 4.

The remastered maps are available now in Black Ops 3 for PlayStation 4 if you pre-order Black Ops 4 from the PlayStation Store.

Destiny 2: Forsaken Gameplay, Release Date Revealed

Destiny 2: Forsaken got a release date and a gameplay trailer. It’s coming September 4.

The new Destiny 2 DLC expansion Forsaken features new locations in the Reef and a unique area called The Dreaming City.
