God of War: Find Everything in Alfheim

The Realm of Alfheim is one of the main Regions in God of War. It is the first main realm other than Midgard that you can explore in the game, and part of your main Journey.

The realm of Alfheim can be explored after your journey to the mountain stops short and you are given the travel rune. The realm of the elves is home to an endless war over control of the Light of Alfheim, located amid a lush area and giant lake that circles the Ringed Temple.

Below you will find details on where to locate all of the collectibles in this area –  but note that some may require you to come back later when you have the tools needed to get to certain areas.

EditArtifact Locations

There are 6 Artifacts located in the realm of Alfheim, and they are part of the Spoils of War Collection.

Once you have restored power to the main Bridge to the Ringed Temple in the area below it, head to the upper bridge on the side opposite the door out to reach a dead end with several Light Elf bodies.

One of whom holds one of the Spoils of War Elven Artifacts.

After restoring the Light of Alfheim, return to the lake’s edge past the bridge leading to the temple and take the lift back down into the Ringed Temple Trench.

Look around the cells in the lift room to spy one with the body of a dead Light Elf. It might be dark, but you can use the Bifrost as a light source to explore the cell and grab one of the Spoils of War Artifacts from the dead body.

Past the lift room, head out into the main trench room and go left across a bridge of light to a room with cells sealed by a hanging light crystal and knock it down.

Check the interior of the cells here to find the body of a Light Elf, and loot the corpse to find another of the Spoils of War Artifacts.

In the main part of the Ringed Temple Trench along the path back to the sand bowl lift, remember that wheel mechanism you used to lower the platforms to a tunnel leading into a prison area.

Return down there to find the doors open and the Draugr gone. Search the cells for the body of a Light Elf holding another of the Spoils of War Artifacts, and add it to your collection.

Back out on the lake in front of the Ringed Temple, take the boat up to the Northwest shore to find the Light Elf Shore.

Head right along the beach to reach a stone path leading to a high ledge with a Legendary Chest above. Near the ledge, look for the body of a dead Light Elf to find another of the Spoils of War Artifacts and add it to your collection.

Also on the lake in front of the Ringed Temple, take the boat to the Southeast to find a shore of the Light Elf Sanctuary. Move along the shore and open a gate you can sprint through and take a right to destroy roots blocking another gate leading to a balcony over the lake.

From the balcony over the water, head right to find the path blocked by two roots you can cleave apart. Cross the root bridge and look down to the left to spot the roots blocking your path and a door below. Hit all of them and a nearby Artifact on the ground will be revealed – the last of the Spoils of War Artifacts.

EditNornir Chest Locations

There are 4 Locked Rune Chests in the realm of Alfheim.

Upon entering the Ringed Temple Trench, head along the path to a wheel mechanism and look opposite its location for a Nornir Chest.

Crossing to the other side you’ll spot a coffin up on a ledge you can’t reach, and a rune is hiding nearby. However, to find them all, look for a wheel mechanism nearby and slowly lower the central floor with it.

You’ll spot a gear as well as an “R” looking Rune – so freeze the gear and drop down to punch the rune, then look where you dropped down from to spot a “C” looking rune to punch as well.

Now return to the wheel and completely lower both the middle and outer platforms, then look behind you to spot the last “N” looking rune, and hop up on the ledge to break it so you can unlock the Nornir Chest holding the Idunn Apple .

After restoring the main light bridge to the Ringed Temple entrance, head to the sealed blue door. From the inactive door, go left down a small path to spot some of the Rune Bells that signify a Nornir Chest.

It’s located behind a blocked door, but if you look from the left side of the door you can spot a second pulsating core on the right – and hit both to clear the doorway to the chest.

The “N” looking rune is right above it, while the “C” and “R” runes are just outside straight and to the right – be sure to hit them fast to unlock the chest and gain a Horn of Blood Mead.

After restoring the Light of Alfheim, make your way back to the other side of the sealed blue door. You’ll find a receptacle for a light crystal here that powers a bridge above you.

In the middle of the new bridge is a Nornir Chest, and nearby are the three Rune Seal Bells you need to hit quickly to unlock it.

The “R” looking rune is found just behind the chest, while the “C” looking rune is to the left through a broken window past the dead body of an elf. Finally, turn back the way you came to find the “N” looking rune hanging over the platforms going back down.

You can hit the first two while standing in front of the chest, then sprint right to hit the last. Hitting all of them quickly will unlock the Nornir Chest to get you a Horn of Blood Mead.

EditRune Chest 4

Back on the lake surrounding the Ringed Temple, take the boat to the Southeast to reach the Light Elf Sanctuary.

From beyond the first gate, take a left along a path to a gazebo with a Nornir Chest overlooking the river leading to the Ringed Temple.

The hanging bell seals here have no markings so it’s a game of trial and error. The correct bells are located behind the chest to the left, directly to the right of the chest, and directly in front of the chest in the doorway.

Finding all three will get you an Idunn Apple.

EditLegendary Chest Locations

There are 5 Legendary Chests located in the realm of Alfheim.

EditLegendary Chest 1

Once you first enter the Ringed Temple Trench, check the cell rooms on either side of the lift.

One of the rooms has a broken mechanism, but the other can be used to unlock the cages. Check the cells here to find Hacksilver on a corpse in one room, and the other room has a blocked path to a chest you can see from this angle.

Throw your axe at the root over the chest, then leave back to the center room and look into the cell from the blocked doorway.

Summon your axe back and it will hit both roots on the way back, unlocking the door and allowing you to loot the Legendary Chest for Thiazi’s Talon, a Heavy Runic Attack.

EditLegendary Chest 2

This Legendary Chest can be found on the platform below the main light bridge leading to the temple. It can be found on the left side of this platform after the battle to clear out the roots blocking the light crystal above, and you’ll find it holds Njord’s Tempest, a Light Runic Attack.

Once you have restored the Light of Alfheim, move around the temple core to get rid of the roots and restore the bridge back to the main entrance. From the core, have Atreus target the newly exposed crystal on the top ring to make a new bridge to the doorway.

Over here a few more Dark Elves will try and get in your way, and they guard a nearby Legendary Chest that holds Strike of the Utgard, a Light Runic Attack.

EditLegendary Chest 4

Out on the lake that surrounds the Ringed Temple, take the boat up to the Northwest beach to the Light Elf Shore. Look for a path to the right that leads into a long tunnel past some roots.

At the other end of the tunnel from the group of roots, head out onto the platform overlooking the beach to find a Legendary Chest holding Frost Giant’s Frenzy – a Heavy Runic Attack.

Take the boat over to the Southeast side of the lake to the Light Elf Sanctuary. A door on the left of the beach is surrounded by roots, so get to higher ground by going through the gate and then right around a balcony overlooking the lake back to a bridge over the beach. Cross the bridge and look down to spot an angle to hit all the roots at once.

With the roots gone, there’s a new tunnel to the side you can take into a small room with a Legendary Chest covered by three pulsating cores nearby – two of which are on separate hanging bars.

Use the nearby wheel mechanism to rotate the bars all the way, and watch as they rotate back slowly to align while facing the only stationary core at the top. This will unlock the chest to reveal the Amulet of Kvasir – a rare Talisman that slows time upon perfect dodges.

EditOdin’s Ravens Locations

There are 2 of Odin’s Ravens located in the realm of Alfheim.

EditOdin’s Raven 1

The Light Elf Shore is home to one of Odin’s Ravens perched on the pedestal of one of those Light Elf monuments to the left as you enter. You can either toss your axe it from the beach, or from the balcony on the side of the large tree.

EditOdin’s Raven 2

The other of Odin’s Ravens can only be reached when you are able to open the Hidden Chamber of Odin located on the Light Elf Shore. Once you have the magic chisel, head down the lift in the chamber to find the raven inside an arena.

EditRealm Tear Locations

There are two Realm Tears located in Alfheim that you can attempt.

EditRealm Tear Encounter 1

The first Realm Tear Encounter can be seen from a balcony overlooking the lake by the Ringed Temple. Take the boat to the Southeast to find the Light Elf Sanctuary, and head through the gate and go right to a gate blocked by root cores – hit the first one to dislodge the gate, open it, and hit the second core and send your axe back to hit both cores. You’ll find the Realm Tear out here on the walkway.

  • Realm Tear Enemies: Two level 3 Heavy Draugr

The second Realm Tear can be found at the opposite shore at the Light Elf Shore – located up in the Northwest area of the lake that surrounds the temple.

Once you dock the boat, head left into a giant hollowed tree, and note several light crystals embedded into the ground. Hit them all with Light Arrows to activate the Realm Tear.

EditLore Locations

There are 4 Lore Locations in the realm of Alfheim, although only 2 of them count as Lore Markers for the summary.

EditLore Location 1

As you head out from Tyr’s Temple along the bridge to Alfheim, look to the right to spot a circle of Rune Reads to have Atreus read from. It’s a message about The Eternal War between elves in this realm.

EditLore Location 2

After you activate the main bridge to the Ringed Temple, head to the blue sealed door and then right to Sindri’s Shop. Just to the right of Sindri you can spot another cabinet to open to find a lore shrine for Groa, a Giant Sorceress.

EditLore Location 3

From Sindri’s Shop outside the Ringed Temple’s door, head through a small passage into a long corridor. At the end of the hall a giant spire rises out of the temple – look along the wall going up to find a ring of Rune Reads in one of the indentations, and have Atreus translate the Keep Safe the Light message for you.

EditLore Location 4

After restoring the Light of Alfheim, head from the core to the outer ring and through a door blocked by a hanging crystal. Now that the blue crystal is off the wall, pick it up and place it in the nearby receptacle.

You’ll notice a Lore Marker stone nearby but the runes can’t be read – it turns out that it needs the Light to become readable, so have Atreus hit the crystal to see its contents: The Light of Alfheim.

Olrun Fight Video Guide

Recommended Level: 5 for a challenging fight, Lvl. 6 for an manageable one.

Olrun is a fast fighter, and you may need to keep up with her quick attacks with light attacks of your own – as long slow attacks from either weapons may leave you open to her fast sweeps and lunges. Olrun will go between rushing up to either perform an unblockable jab from her right wing, perform several wing slashes, or use a spinning wing attack up close that can lethal if not blocked.

If he dashes around at range to the side, she’ll either follow up with an inward dash or a different spinning attack that shoots several projectiles at you. Be ready when she does this, as she may scream “Valhalla” and take to the air – in which case you’ll need to dodge at a moment’s notice to avoid her unblockable grab.

The big thing to remember when facing Olrun is to always move to your right and be ready to dodge in the same direction in order to avoid her dashing red stab.

Most of Olrun’s other attacks can be blocked and then punished once they finish. Just remember to block her wing swing attack, then be ready to dodge to the right to avoid the unblockable follow up stab. If you have Talisman that allow you to Realm Shift, consider using them to get around her attacks and unleash Runic Attacks when time is slowed to make sure she can’t get away.
