This page contains a list of easter eggs that can be found in GTA Online after installing The Doomsday Heist.
Announced early on Friday, December 15, 2017, was the fact that GTA Online players could get their hands on a golden Dual-Action Revolver – and that obtaining the weapon would net them a bonus $250,000 in GTA$ as well as unlock the gun as a bonus item in Red Dead Redemption 2 when it releases in 2018.
After logging into GTA Online, you’ll receive an email from firstname.lastname@example.org – this is a reference to Dutch van der Linde, the leader of a gang in both Red Dead 1 and the upcoming 2.
The email will feature an image of a location, and an area will become marked on your map.
Travel to the indicated area (there are several randomized pictures that you may receive in the email) and match the image to a location.
You’ll head the sound of chimes ringing when you’re nearby – once you find the spot, you’ll find a note to read in close proximity.
This will unlock three clue locations – one in Grapeseed, another in Sandy Shores and a third in the hills between Great Chaparral and Los Santos.
The Chaparral clue is located in this cave up a stream from the winding road through the hills.
The clue in Sandy Shores is in the stick-frame shack at the shore of the Alamo Sea.
The Grapeseed clue is to the east of the open fields, beneath a tree next to the road.
Once you find all three clues, a treasure icon will appear on your map. Make your way there to claim your prize.
After finding the Dual-Action Revolver, you’ll receive a challenge to get 50 headshots with your new pistol. Good spots to farm headshots are Survival activities, or by barricading yourself in an alley or parking garage and luring in cops or enemies.
One of the new vehicles included in the update is the Imponte Deluxo, modeled after the DMC-12 DeLorean, the iconic vehicle used as a time machine in the Back to the Future series. It also includes a hover/flight mode where the wheels fold up into the wells, just like in the film.
The Stromberg submersible car is modeled after the 1976 Lotus Esprit, the car James Bond drove in The Spy Who Loved Me. That car also served as both a car and a submarine. The name “Stromberg” is a reference to Karl Stromberg, the villain in the film.
Dataminers seem to have found a “treasure hunt” in the game’s files that includes references to Red Dead Redemption 2, including a revolver that will allegedly unlock in both games.
The datamine also revealed a supply chest emblazoned with “Boles Overland Stagecoach Co.”, a company name seen in a previous Dead Redemption 2 trailer.
