Season nine of The Walking Dead is going to have a new showrunner but will her first job be to kill off Lauren Cohan’s Maggie Greene? Here’s an update on where her negotiations with the network stand.
Multiple sources tell TV Line that Cohan is now in active negotiations with AMC to extend her current The Walking Dead deal into season nine and beyond. Apparently, she’s made no indications that she’s planning on leaving and with production not set to begin until May, she has plenty of time to ink a deal.
The Walking Dead has already lost Chandler Riggs and Cohan not coming back would be a huge blow to the series which is already dropping viewers on a week by week basis due to some suspect creative decisions. The show is also lacking in strong female characters, so it would be to the show’s benefit to keep Maggie around. Either way, expect big changes with Angela Kang taking over as showrunner.
