HBO has released a new trailer for the upcoming Fahrenheit 451 movie, and it looks great. 99 Homes filmmaker Ramin Bahrani co-wrote and directed this new adaptation of the classic Ray Bradbury story, which takes place in the future and follows Montag (Michael B. Jordan), a fireman who burns books for a living until he starts questioning what his work means for society.
This new trailer offers a far more extensive look at the film, and it makes me a little sad that it won’t be getting a theatrical release. A new adaptation of the book has been in the works for years, after Francois Truffaut directed the first Fahrenheit 451 movie in 1966. Ages ago Mel Gibson was even attached to direct a new Fahrenheit 451, but as the times have changed, this politically relevant tale will instead debut on HBO.
That’s not inherently a bad thing, and this trailer still makes the film look incredibly enticing. Bahrani is a great filmmaker and he assembled an impressive cast here, and the movie looks like it’s certainly updating the material to speak to the world we live in today.
