EA has announced the release date and cover star for NHL 19.
Nashville Predators’ Norris Trophy-winning defenseman P.K. Subban is the cover athlete for NHL 19, which comes out on September 14 for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. An EA spokesperson confirmed to IGN the publisher has “no current plans for Switch or PC” regarding NHL 19.
This latest entry in the sports franchise will let players compete in a new unified progression hub called World of CHEL. It will combine EA SPORTS Hockey League, NHL THREE Drop In, and the new NHL ONES and Pro-Am modes.
NHL ONES has three players competing against each other in a 1v1v1 free-for-all without rules and stoppages. Winning will rank up your outdoor locations and help you defend your king-of-the-hill position. Playing in any World of CHEL mode will also help you unlock a variety of rewards and progress your Create-A-Character.
NHL 19 will also sport deeper customization options, with over 900 new customization items to choose from. This includes lifestyle apparel inspired by pond hockey such as hoodies, jackets, and parkas. New playstyle classes and player traits will further let players customize the way they perform on the ice.
You’ll also be able to play with and compete against over 200 hockey legends, including Wayne Gretzky, in single-player and multiplayer modes. You can compete as new Hero Teams, which combine squads of superstars from the past and present.
Finally, NHL 19 will utilize RPM Tech which promises better animations, better player movement, more responsiveness, and a new collision physics system.
