The mysterious new mythical Pokemon Meltan that has had Pokemon GO players scratching their heads for the last few weeks now has a clearer path towards being caught later this winter.
Revealed on the official Pokemon Let’s Go website through a series of videos involving the Kanto region’s Professor Oak and Pokemon GO’s Professor Willow, Meltan can only be caught by using a Mystery Box obtained through trading Pokemon from Pokemon Go and the upcoming Pokemon Let’s Go games on the Switch.
Though a specific date hasn’t been mentioned, new Special Research quests will be coming to Pokémon GO this winter that will let players catch Meltan after participating in “various investigations with Professor Willow.”
What’s more, in another video released by Nintendo and Game Freak, it’s suggested that Meltan will have at least one evolution, perhaps obtained through catching multiple Meltan, though the video only shows a shadowy allusion to this. The peek can be seen in the adorable video bellow.
Pokémon: Let’s Go, Pikachu! and Let’s Go, Eevee! are coming to the Switch on Nov. 16, 2018 along with an optional Poké Ball Plus controller that comes packed with Mew and a special edition console bundle with a Pikachu and Eevee themed dock and Joy-Con.
