Firmware update version 5.0 is now available for Nintendo Switch.
As outlined on Nintendo’s official support site, the update has added Friend Suggestions, which suggests Facebook and Twitter friends to add based on the social media accounts linked to your Nintendo Account. The update, which was outed earlier today, also adds 24 new ARMS and Kirby-themed user icons, as well as the ability to filter news to just content from specific channels or unread news.
Additionally, with update version 5.0, digital purchases made via a PC or smartphone/tablet will begin downloading sooner than they have in the past. To ensure privacy, the default way to enter your PIN for Parental Controls has also been changed, with the control stick being the default method, rather than the on-screen keypad.
Other changes to Parental Controls, including captured videos in your album being restricted based on your Restricted Software settings and Software Rating Organization, as well as the ability to add certain games to your “whitelist” so your Restricted Software settings don’t apply, have also been added.
The Controllers menu has also been updated to display the grip colors of your Pro Controller. Additionally, users will now receive a notification when a pre-purchased game is ready to be played.
