The latest Nintendo Switch system update allows players to finally transfer user and save data, as well as capture video clips of certain games.
Nintendo has released the latest 4.0.0 update for the system, which finally gives Switch users the ability to transfer both their saved game and user account data from one Switch to another. In order to transfer, both systems must be updated to 4.0.0. and connected to the internet. The system a user is transferring to cannot have more than seven users.
An option for the system transfer now appears in the system settings.
The other most notable feature included in the update is the ability to capture video by holding the capture button during gameplay. This is currently limited to 30 seconds of footage which can then be uploaded to Facebook and Twitter.
Video capture is something we knew was coming to the Switch since before launch but is still not yet available for all games. Currently, The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, ARMS, and Splatoon 2 all support the new feature.
The update also adds 12 new user icons, including some from Breath of the Wild and Odyssey, the ability to pre-purchase and pre-load certain games from the eShop, and an update to the news channel.
Additionally, users can now match the software version of a game to a group of local users so all players can be playing with the most updated version.
Nintendo also recently updated the Switch mobile app used for multiplayer to streamline the experience.
And in terms of Switch games, Nintendo is reportedly encouraging more mature titles on its latest console. This report falls in line with the company’s efforts to fix its third-party problem with Switch. In fact, Rockstar is bringing L.A. Noire to Switch, and Bethesda is not only releasing Skyrim, but also Doom and Wolfenstein 2 on Switch.
