North Carolina Fortnite Player Continues Game as Tornado Hits Town

“Honestly, I was just thinking about the game”

A teenager continued to play Fortnite as a tornado ravaged his neighborhood in Greensboro, North Carolina.

As told to (via Kotaku) Anton Williams was sitting at home playing Fortnite when all of a sudden he heard “a bunch of noise”.

“I look out the window and I started seeing the roof come off the houses in front of me.”

Williams then sat back down to finish the game, until he noticed power lines coming down. At that point, he herded his sister and nephew into the bathroom.

When the station asked Williams what was going through his mind during the 217km/h tornado, Williams was pretty honest.

“Honestly, I was just thinking about the game” he said, before adding “but I was hoping everybody was OK around me.”

Fortnite’s popularity isn’t just weathering storms, it’s also bleeding into classrooms and celebrity culture, and smashing YouTube records.
