Niantic has announced that more generation three Pokemon are coming to Pokemon Go, including a new Legendary.
In a post on Pokemon Go’s official site, Niantic announced that “several Flying- and Dragon-type Pokemon” will start to spawn in the game beginning tomorrow. While Niantic didn’t name all of the specific Pokemon included in this set, an image on the site showed off Beldum, Chimecho, Pelipper, Bagon, Salamence, Tropius, Taillow, Swablu, and Altaria.
In addition to this set of Pokemon, Legendary Pokemon Rayquaza will also begin appearing in raid battles tomorrow and will remain in the game until March 16.
Beyond the new Pokemon, Niantic announced that generation 3 Pokemon (originally from Pokemon Ruby and Sapphire) will completely take over wild encounters until February 13, giving players a chance to fill out their Pokedex. Niantic also teased new Raid bosses and new Pokemon in hatched eggs.
In the store, new special bundled boxes will be available for sale until February 23, and Lure Modules will last for six hours instead of the usual 30 minutes.
Pokemon Go most recently added 23 new generation 3 Pokemon, bringing the total number of Hoenn Pokemon in the game to 100 before today. In addition to Rayquaza, Legendary Pokemon Kyogre was added to the game last month and will continue to appear in raid battles until February 14.
Last night, Niantic apologized for recent frustration with the Mewtwo invite system and offered new clarification about how to get invited.
