What Are Natures?[edit]

Natures are randomly applied to each Pokemon upon receiving or capturing them. Each of the 25 Natures, with the exception of five, will increase one Base Stat by 10% while decreasing another Base Stat by 10%. While viewing your Pokemon’s summary of stats, the base stat in red is the boosted stat while stat in blue is the decreased stat.

Many trainers take advantage of Natures to increase a Stat a Pokemon excels in while reducing another stat they will never use. A perfect example is Alakazam with a Modest or Timid Nature. Alakazam excels in Special Attack and Speed, but they don’t need the Attack Stat at all.

Since Natures are randomly applied, some people capture a large number of the same Pokemon to get the right Nature.
