EditArx Fatalis: The New Dungeons and Dragons
While exploring Talos 1, you’re likely to see reference to several crew members playing a D&D type game called Fatal Fortress. However, it’s not until you find the game table on the second floor of the Recreation Room in Crew Quarters that you get to see more about it – most notably the Game Master’s Tome.
Reading the Game Master’s Tome, you’ll get a brief synposis – which may sound familiar to fans of Arkane. In fact, the synopsis is the same of Arkane’s very first game – Arx Fatalis. Both games take place in a world where the sun has gone out and people have move underground – and there’s even mention of Arx Fatalis’ spell system of drawing runes in the air to cast magic.
Even more nods to Arx Fatalis can be seen in the several Character Sheets you can find. Not only is the font of Fatal Fortress the same as Arx Fatalis, the skill icons you can see in the character sheets are the same in both games.
