Resident Evil 2 Remake: All Weapons and Weapon Mod Locations

In both Leon and Claire’s playthroughs, you can find a variety of different Weapons found in all sorts of places

Leon Kennedy has 6 Weapons that he can obtain over the course of his Story – with one weapon only available during his Second Run.

Matilda Handgun[edit]

  • Location Found: Leon’s Default Weapon
  • Weapon Mods: High-Capacity Mag, Gun Stock, Muzzle Brake

The Matilda Handgun is Leon Kennedy‘s default weapon. It fires 9mm Handgun Ammo, and has a decent rate of fire with a standard clip size, and can be upgraded through Weapon Mods.

The High-Capacity Mag increases your clip to 24 rounds, and can be found at Leon’s Desk in the West Office of the Police Station. It is locked by two separate Dial Locks that require the first letters of the names your co-workers as seen by their name plates. The left lock’s combination is NED, while the right lock’s combination is MRG.

The Gun Stock increases your weapon’s size by one box, and in return allows for better handling, and by holding the trigger you can fire 3-round bursts. It is located in the Parking Garage of the Police Station, which hides in one of the squad cars. To unlock the car, find the Tin Box in the nearby Firing Range and inspect the Car Key to hit the unlock button when nearby.

The Muzzle Brake will suppress muzzle rise and give your shots less recoil allowing for more sustained and accurate fire. It is located in the Waiting Room on the 2nd Floor of the Police Office, and you can find the safe combination down below in the locked Interrogation Room, which you can access from the Club Door locked Observation Room. The safe combination is Left 6, Right 2, Left 11.

W-870 Shotgun[edit]

  • Location Found: Safety Deposit Room, Police Station 1F (Requires Weapons Locker Key Card from the Art Room).
  • Weapon Mods: Long Barrel, Shotgun Stock

The Shotgun is the first weapon you can add to your collection in the game, and boasts incredible close-range damage – which can often blow apart a zombie’s head when aimed properly. However, ammo and capacity is limited, as is its damage output when at medium or long range.

The Long Barrel will increase your ammo capacity to 8 but increase the size by one box, and can be found after leaving the Parking Garage and heading to the Streets Behind R.P.D., and you can find it at the Gun Shop Kendo.

The Shotgun Stock will vastly improve its rate of fire, and can be found in the Sewers at the back of the Treatment Pool Room in a locked safe. Fortunately, the safe’s combination is stenciled on the side in chalk, and it reads “Left 2, Right 12, Left 8”.

Lightning Hawk Magnum[edit]

  • Location: S.T.A.R.S. Office Armory, Police Station 2F (Requires the S.T.A.R.S. Badge / USB Dongle Key – which is inside the Bejeweled Box in the Observation Room)
  • Weapon Mods: Long Barrel, Red Dot Sight

The Lightning Hawk Magnum is an incredibly powerful handgun that fires piercing rounds to deal incredible and precise damage with a slow rate of fire. One shot can easily explode a zombie’s head or massively wound larger foes.

The Long Barrel will reduce your recoil while increasing the damage output even more, but increase the weapon’s size by one square. It can be found in the Underground Facility in a locked weapon case – but can only be opened by using the S.T.A.R.S. Badge (converted back from the USB Dongle Key). In order to reach the locked case, you must search the Sewers for the Workers’ Break Room, and push aside a large cabinet to reveal a hidden elevator back to the Underground Facility.

The Red Dot Sight will increase your pinpoint accuracy without the need to wait for your crosshairs to decrease. It can only be found by obtaining the Roll Film: Hiding Places in the Sewers Workroom, and developed back at the Police Station using the hidden elevator in the Workers’ Break Room. Only then can you find it hiding in the S.T.A.R.S. Office main desk in a Wooden Crate.

Chemical Flamethrower[edit]

  • Location: Supplies Storage Room, Lower Sewers
  • Weapon Mods: Regulator

The Chemical Flamethrower is a unique and large weapon that deals sustained fire damage that will increase if the trigger is held, but uses up more fuel as a result. This can have a unique effect on certain enemies, and deal continuous damage that effects the entire body instead of a specific part.

The Regulator will allow you to burn enemies for longer periods due to reduced fuel consumption. It can be found in the Laboratory in the North Lab Area’s Nap Room, located in one of the lockers opposite the nap pods.

Rocket Launcher[edit]

  • Location: Laboratory, Lift Room B3
  • Weapon Mods: N/A

The Rocket Launcher is a special weapon that is only given to you at the very end of Leon’s Story – in his fight against the final boss.

The Rocket Launcher deals incredible damage – able to kill that which cannot otherwise be killed, but ammo is extremely limited, so make your shots count!

M16 Handgun[edit]

  • Location: Guardroom, Police Station B1 (Second Story Only)
  • Weapon Mods:

The M19 Handgun is an alternate weapon that Leon will find soon after his Second Run Story begins. It is unique in that it deals incredible damage, but you cannot craft ammo for it – and will have to find more ammo as you continue your adventure.

Claire Redfield has 7 Weapons that he can obtain over the course of his Story – with one weapon only available during his Second Run.

SLS 60 Handgun[edit]

  • Location Found: Claire’s Default Weapon
  • Weapon Mods: Speed Loader, Reinforced Frame

The SLS 60 Handgun is Claire Redfield‘s default weapon. It fires 9mm Handgun Ammo, but has a very limited ammo count with a long reload time.

The Speed Loader will vastly decrease the time it takes to reload the revolver, and can be found at Leon’s Desk in the West Office of the Police Station. It is locked by two separate Dial Locks that require the first letters of the names your co-workers as seen by their name plates. The left lock’s combination is NED, while the right lock’s combination is MRG.

The Reinforced Frame will augment the handgun and allow it to fire High-Powered Rounds that can be swapped out from standard 9mm ammo that deals incredible damage. It can be found in the Sewers at the back of the Treatment Pool Room in a locked safe. Fortunately, the safe’s combination is stenciled on the side in chalk, and it reads “Left 2, Right 12, Left 8”.

GM 79 Grenade Launcher[edit]

  • Location Found: Safety Deposit Room, Police Station 1F (Requires Weapons Locker Key Card from the Art Room).
  • Weapon Mods: Shoulder Stock

The Grenade Launcher is a fairly unique weapon – it can be used to fire single shot grenade rounds that will coat an area with either acid or fire, and continuously damage enemies with a big initial blast with more afterwards if the enemy remains in that area. Claire can either stock Acid Rounds or Flame Shots, but only Acid Rounds can be crafted, while only Flame Rounds can be found when exploring.

The Shoulder Stock Mod will increase the trajectory and aim of your weapon at the cost of increasing its size by one box. It can be found in the Elevator Controls Room in the Parking Garage of the Police Station B1 – after obtaining the Diamond Key from the Morgue.

JMB Hp3 Handgun[edit]

  • Location Found: Parking Garage, Police Station B1 (Requires Car Key found in the Firing Range)
  • Weapon Mods: Laser Sight, High Capacity Mag

The JMB Hp3 is a more standard Handgun than the SLS 60, although they both share the same 9mm ammo. While the JMB may not have as high a rate of fire, and cannot interchange ammo later on, it comes with a laser sight for added precision and can carry much more ammo than the SLS.

The Laser Sight Mod is already equipped when you first find the JMB Hp3.

The High-Capacity Mag will increase the clip size to 26 rounds. It is located in the Waiting Room on the 2nd Floor of the Police Office, and you can find the safe combination down below in the Heart Key locked Interrogation Room. The safe combination is Left 6, Right 2, Left 11.

MQ 11 Submachine Gun[edit]

  • Location: S.T.A.R.S. Office Armory, Police Station 2F (Requires the S.T.A.R.S. Badge / USB Dongle Key – which is inside the Bejeweled Box in the Interrogation Room)
  • Weapon Mods: High-Capacity Magazine, Supressor

The Submachine Gun is an automatic weapon that can fire an extremely fast rate and already starts with a good clip size. However the bullets lack precision and cannot stagger most enemies – but can quickly rack up damage on bigger enemies.

The Supressor vastly improve’s the weapons handling to reduce kickback and allow you to better focus on a target, but increases the size of the weapon by one box. It can be found in the Underground Facility in a locked weapon case – but can only be opened by using the S.T.A.R.S. Badge (converted back from the USB Dongle Key). In order to reach the locked case, you must search the Sewers for the Workers’ Break Room, and push aside a large cabinet to reveal a hidden elevator back to the Underground Facility.

The High-Capacity Magazine will increase your clip size to a whopping 50 rounds. It can only be found by obtaining the Roll Film: Hiding Places in the Sewers Workroom, and developed back at the Police Station using the hidden elevator in the Workers’ Break Room. Spark Shot[edit]

  • Location: Supplies Storage Room, Lower Sewers
  • Weapon Mods: High Voltage Condenser

The Spark Shot is a very unique weapon that has limited ammo, but can latch onto an enemy with electric conducting needles and wires that transmits a large amount of damage the more the trigger is held and focused on the target. Focusing for the full length will overload needles and explode in a flash of damage that can kill most enemies in a single strike.

The High Voltage Condenser allows you to reach your maximum overcharge at a much quicker rate to take out more enemies quickly. It can be found in the Laboratory in the North Lab Area’s Nap Room, located in one of the lockers opposite the nap pods.

Minigun[edit]

  • Location: Laboratory, Turntable Lift B3
  • Weapon Mods: N/A

The Minigun is a special weapon that is only given to you at the very end of Claire’s Story – in his fight against the final boss.

The Rocket Launcher deals incredible damage – able to kill that which cannot otherwise be killed, but ammo is extremely limited, so make your shots count!

Quickdraw Army Handgun[edit]
