remake will be getting an update that further ties the game to the recently announced Resident Evil 3 remake. And it’ll be in the form of a letter from none other than Jill Valentine.A week ago, internet sleuths discovered a mysterious new Steam Achievement for Resident Evil 2 remake. Now, after Capcom officially announced Resident Evil 3 remake, that achievement has been revealed and it’s tied directly to the newly announced Capcom remake. Titled “Chasing Jill,” the Steam Achievement says that players will need to “Read a letter left behind by Jill” to earn the achievement. Resident Evil 2 hasn’t been updated yet, so this letter isn’t in the game at the moment.
This won’t be the first reference to Resident Evil 3 that’s in Resident Evil 2. In April, the official Resident Evil Twitter account tweeted an image of broken walls in the Raccoon City Police Department asking players what they think happened here.

The popular theory online is that there are two kinds of broken walls in the police department. One made by Mr. X, and the other by Nemesis. This is explained by how there are already holes in the walls before Mr. X even shows up to RCPD, and how some holes appear to have been blasted by a rocket launcher, instead of punched through which is Mr. X’s M.O.
Resident Evil 3 remake follows the footsteps of Resident Evil 2 by presenting a fully updated version of the 1999 horror classic. It’s suggested that the remake is being developed by PlatinumGames and Capcom alumni.
We’ll find out what exactly Jill said in her letter when the update goes live. In the meantime, check out IGN’s Resident Evil 2 remake review. Also, check out our comparison between the original Resident Evil 3 and the remake. Matt Kim is a reporter for IGN. You can reach him on Twitter.
