West Coast Avengers Returns With Double the Hawkeye

The first issue comes out on August 22.

The West Coast Avengers are coming back in a new comic book series, and they’ll be led by two Hawkeyes.

Per Marvel.com, both Kate Bishop and Clint Barton are in charge of the new team featuring former X-Man Quentin Quire aka Kid Omega, Gwenpool, Kate’s boyfriend Johnny, and Young Avenger America Chavez.

Kelly Thompson (Rogue, Hawkeye, Gambit) is writing the series with art by Stefano Caselli. The story begins with Kate assembling a new team of superheroes to save Los Angeles as villains have taken over the West Coast. Along the way, Clint will be mentoring Kate.

“Kate needs to help save LA, and she needs help to do that because villains have taken notice that there are no Super Heroes out there,” Thompson said. “I think there’s part of her that misses [being on a team] too.”

Gwenpool will be “a really weird X-factor” and Johnny is in “way over his head.” Meanwhile, America Chavez will be the wildcard in the group, with the series exploring why she decided to come back to LA.

Since none of the heroes have any money, they’ll be part of a reality show in order to get funding. The original 1980s West Coast Avengers run had the heroes living in a Tony Stark-funded flat.
